Among the new line projects under construction the most important one is the Daitari-Banspani, 155 km. long new railway line project. It will have 13 stations, 26Bridge on the Daitari-Banspani line major bridges and 361 minor bridges with an estimated cost of Rs. 594.98 Crores. This line will connect the Banspani and Daitari iron ore sectors of Orissa with Paradeep Port via a route which will be shorter by 335 km. than the route via Kharagpur. This will make the Iron Ore from Orissa more competitive in the international market. Many major steel plants are coming up in Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex in Daitari area. This alignment will serve these steel plants both for receipt of their raw materials and dispatch of the finished products.
