Khurda Road-Bolangir (289 km.) project in the State of Orissa was included in the budget proposal for 1994-95. It envisages the construction of 17 stations, 32 major bridges 403 minor bridges, 11 tunnels, 2 Road over bridges and 6 Road under bridges at an estimated cost of Rs. 353.38 Crores. The State Government has promised to give land free of cost and contribute Rs. 15 Crores towards earth work under Jawahar Rojgar Yojana. This line, when commissioned will serve three backward districts of Orissa leading to emotional and cultural integration of coastal and western Orissa.

Out of 39 villages for private land, 17 villages have been taken over for 275.96 Acres. Money has been deposited for alienation of all Govt. land in first 36 km. Collectors have been requested to issue advance possession of Govt. land
